Musicals!

I got to go and see “Something Rotten.” Uncle P. was supposed to go instead of Mommy to this one, but he was too busy building stuff, and didn’t want to go. We got there early so we checked out the lobby. I wanted Mommy to buy me a teddy bear, but even though we saw all these bears, no one was actually selling them. There was a T.V. that showed all the people who were in the play. That was kind of cool. I would like to be on T.V. one day. I wonder if I ever will be?

It did get kind of boring waiting after awhile. Once the musical started though, it all seemed worth it. The show was funny, and I really liked the dancing and singing.

Afterwards, we stopped in at Ikea to have dinner, and do a little browsing. I wanted Mommy to buy fun stuff like these Christmas decorations we saw, but she only bought useful stuff like an ironing board cover and a tabletop ironing board for Granny. She said we have to save our money right now for Christmas.

She climbed the tree for a better look at the plant pots, but then a stage hand started looking at her funny, so Auntie R. said it was time they went to look for their seats. The play was scary at times, but again, had great singing and dancing, according to Chloe.

This week, the weather kept going from cool to freezing, from one day to the next, so Mommy decided Demelza and Minna needed a coat. She made them a coat and hat set that matches the one she made for our Sasha sisters a few weeks ago.

This set is made from thinner yarn this time, but still features a loose fit so our sisters can wear whatever they want under it. Mommy chose not to put a pompom on the hat this time, but you could if you wanted to. She used a cream coloured Patons Beehive Baby Sport yarn because that is what she found in her yarn bin, but she is going to make it again in a different colour for the Sasha babies as our Minouche sister Demelza wants to keep the cream coat and hat set for herself.

Mommy is posting the pattern for this coat and hat set here below, in case someone at your house wants to make it. Although it is similar to the set made for our Sasha sisters, the only thing that is made exactly the same way is the collar, as the rest of the pattern has been reworked to fit our smaller sisters.

Minouche/Baby Sasha: A Coat and Hat Set

Materials:

Patons Beehive Baby Sport yarn

Size 3.00 knitting needles (UK-11; US-2.5)

5 small buttons

Stitch holder or spare piece of yarn

Tension:

7 stitches per 1 inch/2.5 cm

Stitches Used:

Stockinette stitch – 1) Knit. 

        2) Knit 1, purl to last stitch, knit 1.

Garter stitch – Knit each row.

Abbreviations:

Knit – k

Purl – p

M 1 – Make one inc (pick up loop between stitch just worked and next stitch to be knitted, knit through loop from the top side e.g., the result is a new twisted knit stitch)

YO – wind yarn around needle to make an increase, before working the next stitch

K 2 tog – knit the next two stitches together as one – decrease made

Sl – slip next stitch

Psso – pass slipped stitch over stitch just knit – decrease made

Sts – stitches

Minouche/Baby Sasha: A Coat and Hat Set

Coat:

Beginning at lower left front, cast on 30 stitches.

1. Knit.
2. Sl 1, knit to end.

Repeat rows 1 and 2, two times more.

7) Knit.

8) Sl 1, k 4, purl to last stitch, k 1.

Repeat rows 7 and 8, two times more.

13) K 1, sl 1, k 1, psso, knit to end (29 sts)

14) Sl 1, k 4, purl to last stitch, k 1.

15) Knit.

16) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.

17) K 1, m 1, knit to last stitch, m 1, k 1.

18) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.

Cast on for underarms:

19) Cast on 3 stitches, knit to end.

20) Cast on 3 stitches, K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1 (36 sts).

Lower back: 

*1) K 1, m 1, knit to last stitch, m 1, k 1.

Beginning with a purl row, continue in stockinette stitch for 5 rows more.*

Repeat rows 1 to 6 (from star to star as indicated), until there are 50 stitches on needle.

Work another 2 rows even in stockinette stitch.

Work 6 rows even in garter stitch.  Cast off.

Sleeves:

Working across one armhole edge, with right side of garment facing, pick up 3 stitches at underarm, 19 stitches across armhole edge, and 3 stitches at underarm (25 sts).

1. Knit.

Beginning with a knit row, work 6 rows even in stockinette stitch.

8) K 1, sl 1, k 1, psso, knit to last 3 stitches, k 2 tog, k 1 (23 sts).

Beginning with a purl row, work 5 rows even in stockinette stitch.

14) K 1, sl 1, k 1, psso, knit to last 3 stitches, k 2 tog, k 1 (21 sts).

Beginning with a purl row, work 3 rows even in stockinette stitch.

Collar:

Right side of garment facing, skip first 4 stitches of front placket, pick up 1 stitch in fifth stitch of placket, 5 stitches across front side neck edge, 10 stitches across back neck edge, 5 stitches across front side neck edge, and 1 stitch from front placket (leaving the remaining 4 front placket stitches unworked).  You now have 22 stitches for collar.

Knit 2 rows.

3) *K 2, m1,* repeat from star to star to last 2 stitches, k 2 (32 sts).

4) Knit.

5) K 2, m 1, knit to last 2 stitches, m 1 k 2.

Work 5 rows even in garter stitch.  Cast off.

Finishing:

Sew side and sleeve seams.  Darn in all loose yarn ends. Sew buttons to close front of coat.

Hat:

Cast on 55 stitches.

Work 6 rows even in garter stitch.

Beginning with a knit row, work 10 rows even in stockinette stitch.

17) *Knit 7, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (49 sts).

Work 3 rows even in stockinette stitch.

21) *Knit 6, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (43 sts).

22) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.

23) *Knit 5, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (37 sts).

24) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.

25) *Knit 4, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (31 sts).

26) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.

27) *Knit 3, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (25 sts).

Thread yarn through remaining stitches, pull tight and secure to close crown.  Sew back seam of hat.  Darn in all loose ends.

Cette semaine, le temps est passé de frais à glacial, d’un jour à l’autre, alors maman a décidé que Demelza et Minna avaient besoin d’un manteau. Elle leur a confectionné un ensemble manteau et chapeau assorti, le même qu’elle a confectionné pour nos sœurs Sasha il y a quelques semaines.

Cet ensemble est fabriqué à partir de fil fin cette fois, mais présente toujours une coupe ample afin que votre poupée puisse porter ce qu’elles veulent en dessous. J’ai décidé de ne pas mettre de pompon sur le chapeau cette fois-ci, mais vous pouvez en mettre un évidemment. J’ai a utilisé un fil Patons Beehive Baby Sport de couleur crème parce que c’est ce que j’ai trouvé dans mon bac à laine, mais vous pouvez choisir une autre couleur.

Minouche/Baby Sasha -A Coat and Hat Set

Matériel :

Laine : Patons Beehive Baby Sport yarn Aiguilles 3.00 mm (UK-11, US-2.5)
5 petits boutons

Tension :

7 mailles = 2.5 cm

Faire une augmentation (relever la boucle entre la maille qui vient d’être tricotée et la maille suivante, tricoter à travers la boucle = une nouvelle maille tricotée torse)

Manteau :

En commençant en bas à gauche devant, monter 30 mailles.

1. Mailles endroit.
2. Glisser 1 m, m end jusqu’à la fin du rang.

Répéter les rangs 1 et 2, 2 fois encore.

7) Mailles endroit.
8) Glisser 1 m, 4 m end, m env jusqu’à la dernière m, 1 m end.
Répéter les rangs 7 et 8, 2 fois encore.
13) 1 m end, 1 surjet simple, m end (29 m)
14) Glisser 1 m, 4 m end, m env jusqu’à la dernière m, 1 m end.

Répéter les rangs de 1 à 6 (d’étoile en étoile comme indiqué), jusqu’à ce qu’il y ait 50 mailles sur l’aiguille.
Tricoter encore 2 rangs de jersey.
Tricoter 6 rangs au point mousse. Rabattre.

Manches :

En travaillant sur le bord d’une emmanchure, avec le côté droit du vêtement face à vous, relever 3 mailles sous les bras, 19 mailles sur le bord de l’emmanchure et 3 mailles sous les bras (25 m).

En commençant par un rang endroit, tricotez 6 rangs en jersey.

14) 1 m end, 1 surjet simple, m end jusqu’aux 3 dernières m, 2 m end ens, 1 m end (21 m). En commençant par un rang envers, tricotez 3 rangs en jersey.
18) 1 m end, 1 surjet simple, m end jusqu’aux 3 dernières m, 2 m end ens, 1 m end (19 m).
En commençant par un rang envers, tricotez 3 rangs en jersey.
22) 1 m end, 1 surjet simple, m end jusqu’aux 3 dernières m, 2 m end ens, 1 m end (17 m).

Côté endroit du vêtement vers vous, sauter les 4 premières mailles de la patte de boutonnage devant, relever 1 maille dans la cinquième maille de la patte de boutonnage, 5 mailles sur le bord de l’encolure devant, 10 mailles sur le bord de l’encolure arrière, 5 mailles sur le bord de l’encolure devant et 1 maille. à partir de la patte de boutonnage devant (en laissant les 4 mailles restantes de la patte de devant non tricotées). Vous avez maintenant 22 mailles pour le col.
Tricoter 2 rangs endroit.
3) *2 m end, 1 aug* répéter jusqu’aux 2 dernières m, 2 m end, (32 m).
4) Mailles endroit.
5) 2 m end, 1 aug, répéter jusqu’aux 2 dernières m, 1 aug, 2 m end.
Tricoter 5 rangs au point mousse. Rabattre.

Finition :

Faire les coutures des manches. Rentrer les fils. Coudre les boutons pour fermer le devant du manteau.
Bonnet :
Monter 55 mailles.
