Mommy added rays from the Christmas tree’s star, Baby Jesus in his manger and a lamb sleeping in the hay to the centre of her Advent calendar this week. Auntie S. helped by suggesting the rays, and three of the new fabrics from the quilt show made the Baby Jesus and lamb, fun to make. Then, Mommy asked Auntie R. to let her use her huge table to put some quilt tops together. (Our own table is much too small to lay out quilts on! Thankfully, Auntie R. is very gracious about lending us her table for these sort of things.)
First, Mommy put together the Advent calendar and a crib quilt of teddy bears that she made a long, long time ago, but never quilted. Do you remember the chicken quilt top she made this summer in Goderich? It was the third quilt she put together. Now Mommy has lots of quilting to do, but her back has been sore for a few days, so she got out her heating pad and her knitting needles instead this weekend.
She wasn’t sure what to make, but when she looked through her yarn stash, she found a skein of blue that was pretty. As soon as Peggy saw the yarn, she asked whether she could have a coat made from it as our fall weather has finally arrived, with cooler temperatures.
The coat and hat set Mommy made look good on Peggy don’t you think? The coat is made from a fairly thick yarn, so it knits up quickly, and the garter stitch collar is warm against Peggy’s neck. The coat is roomy enough, too, that it fits over her indoor clothes easily.
If you would like to have a coat and hat set like Peggy’s, here is the pattern:

If desired, make and attach a pompom to top of crown.

Maman ne savait pas trop quoi faire, mais quand elle a fouillé sa réserve de laine, elle a trouvé un joli écheveau bleu. Dès que Peggy a vu le fil, elle a demandé si elle pouvait en faire un manteau car notre temps automnal est enfin arrivé, avec des températures plus fraîches.
Le manteau est fait d’un fil assez épais, donc il se tricote rapidement et le col au point mousse est chaud contre le cou de Peggy. Le manteau est également suffisamment large pour le mettre sur d’autres vêtements.
