This week, we welcomed a new member to our family, baby Dennis. He flew all the way from Switzerland to live with us. Our resident medical personnel checked him out, because after the bumpy plane ride, his tummy was a little upset. He is much better now, and has enjoyed himself all week, getting fussed over by his large crew of new sisters and brothers.
While the little girls at our house are all hankering after new princess dresses, I have told them they will have to be creative and make their own, because I am too busy making them a new pants and top set.
This week, the pants are ready, and Chloe kindly agreed to model them for you. I have promised her she can help pick the colours for the top next week, as a reward for her modelling stint.
The pattern for the pants is below. They are made using size 10 cotton crochet thread.
Kruselings Knit Pants
Materials:
Size 10 crochet thread
2.00 mm knitting needles (UK – 14, US – 0)
1.00 Steel crochet hook (UK – 12, US – 6 1/2)
1 small snap fastener
Tension:
10 stitches per 1”/2.5 cm
Stitches:
Garter stitch – knit every row
Stockinette stitch – 1) Knit.
2) Knit 1, purl to last stitch, knit 1.
Single Crochet: Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, pull thread through all loops on hook.
Abbreviations:
K – knit
P – purl
M 1 – pick up loop between stitch just worked and next stitch and place on left hand needle; working into the back of the loop, knit – inc made
YO – yarn over
K 2 tog – knit the next two stitches together as one – decrease made
Sc – single crochet
Sts – stitches
Kruselings Knit Pants
With 2.00 mm knitting needles, cast on 34 stitches at waistline.
Rows 1 to 3:
K 2, *p 1, k 1,* repeat from star to star to end of row.
4) K 1, p 6, turn.
5) K 7.
6) K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1 (34 sts).
7) K 7, turn.
8) P 6, k 1.
9) Knit across entire row (34 sts).
10) K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
11) Knit.
12) K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1
13) K 1, m 1, knit to last stitch, m 1, k 1 (36 sts).
14) K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1
15) K 1, m 1, k 16, m 1, k 2, m 1, k 16, m 1, k 1 (40 sts).
16) K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1
17) K 1, m 1, k 18, m 1, k 2, m 1, k 18, m 1, k 1 (44 sts).
18) K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
19) K 1, m 1, k 20, m 1, k 2, m 1, k 20, m 1, k 1 (48 sts).
20) K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
Divide for legs:
21) K 1, m 1, k 22, m 1, k 1, turn (26 sts).
Leave the remaining 24 stitches for the second leg on a stitch holder or a spare piece of yarn.
22) K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
Work 16 rows even in stockinette stitch.
Knit 2 rows in garter stitch.
Begin lower half of leg:
- K 1, *m 1, k 2,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, m 1, k 1 (39 sts).
- K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
- K 3, *yo, k 2 tog, k 3,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1.
- K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
- K 1, *yo, k 2 tog, k 3,* repeat from star to star to last 3 stitches, yo, k 2 tog, k 1.
- K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
Repeat rows 3 to 6, 4 times more.
Work 4 rows even in garter stitch. Cast off.
Second leg:
Put the remaining 24 stitches back onto one needle.
- K 1, m 1, k 22, m 1, k 1, turn (26 sts).
- K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
Work 16 rows even in stockinette stitch.
Knit 2 rows in garter stitch.
Begin lower half of leg:
- K 1, *m 1, k 2,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, m 1, k 1 (39 sts).
- K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
- K 3, *yo, k 2 tog, k 3,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1.
- K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
- K 1, *yo, k 2 tog, k 3,* repeat from star to star to last 3 stitches, yo, k 2 tog, k 1.
- K 1, purl across entire row to last stitch, k 1.
Repeat rows 3 to 6, 4 times more.
Work 4 rows even in garter stitch. Cast off.
Sew leg seams. Sew back seam for about 1/2 inch/1.25 cm.
Using the 1.00 mm crochet hook, sc down left back edge. Work 2 more rows in sc for under placket. End off.
Sc 1 row across right back edge. End off.
Darn in all thread ends. Close back opening with a snap fastener.

Tricoter 16 rangs de jersey.
Tricoter 2 rangs au point de mousse. Commencer la moitié inférieure de la jambe :
- 1) 1 m end, *1 aug, 2 m end* répéter jusqu’à la dernière m, 1 aug, 1 m end (39 m).
- 2) 1 m end, m env jusqu’à la dernière m, 1 m end.
- 3) 3 m end, *1 jeté, 2 m end ens, 3 m end* répéterjusqu’à la dernière m, 1 m end.
- 4) 1 m end, m env jusqu’à la dernière m, 1 m end.
- 5) 1 m end, *1 jeté, 2 m end ens, 3 m end* répéterjusqu’aux 3 dernières m, 1 jeté, 2 m end ens, 1 m end.
- 6) 1 m end, m env jusqu’à la dernière m, 1 m end.
Répéter les rangs de 3 à 6, 4 fois.
Tricoter 4 rangs au point de mousse et rabattre.
Coudre les jambes. Faire la couture arrière sur environ 1,25 cm.
À l’aide du crochet de 1,00 mm, m serrées en bas du bord arrière gauche. Crocheter 2 rangs supplémentaires en m serrées pour le dessous de la patte de boutonnage. Finir.
Faire 1 rang de m serrées sur le bord arrière droit.
Fermez l’ouverture au dos avec un bouton pression.
