As promised, Mommy made me a stocking hat to go with my new coat. I love it. There is only one problem, Michael thought it was funny to grab the end and pull it off my head while he was running by, and now he has Riley doing it too! Mommy told them to stop, so they had better!
The pattern for my hat is at the end of this post if you want one, too, and can convince someone to make it for you…
Mommy adopted a new baby a few weeks ago. This is what she looked like on the ebay posting photo.
When she arrived here though, this is what Mommy found…

Poor little Baby! Mommy got some of the adoption fees reversed, and then went out to buy materials to help fix the baby up. She was nervous about fixing the baby, because she had never done surgery before…
She didn’t let that stop her though, and got to work this weekend on making Baby all better.
It took two days to do her hair and then restring her.
Mommy made the baby’s hair too thick, but for a first try, we think Baby looks pretty good.
After a shampoo and sitting all night with a sock on her head, this is what Baby looked like this morning – not too bad at all. Mommy did not make bangs again for her because she noticed the bangs she came with never lay flat properly, and besides, baby looks cuter without them.
Baby is happy now that she is back together and all cleaned up. Now, we are all thinking of a name for her. It might take awhile because we all want to call her something different, and so we have to let her think over the names we have suggested until she decides which one she likes best.
Mommy wants us to tell you that she won’t be adding any new blog posts for a few weeks as she is going for a surgery herself this week, and will need a bit of time to recover. We hope you will have a good couple of weeks in the meantime, and we look forward to seeing you back here for more adventures after that.
Here is the pattern for my stocking hat:
K2, P2 Brim, Stocking Hat for Kruselings
(To match k 2, p 2 Kruselings coat pattern)
Materials:
2.75 mm needles (UK – 12, US – 2)
Fingering yarn – 1 ball
Tension:
7 stitches per 1”/2.5 cm, in stockinette stitch
Stitches Used:
Garter stitch – knit every row
Stockinette stitch – 1) Knit
2) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.
Abbreviations:
K – knit
P – purl
K 2 tog – knit two together
Sts – stitches
K2, P2 Brim, Stocking Hat
Cast on 34 stitches.
Knit 3 rows in garter stitch.
4) K 1, *p 2, k 2,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1.
5) Knit.
Repeat rows 4 and 5 once.
Next three rows: K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.
11) Right side: Knit.
12) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.
Repeat rows 9 and 10, 3 times more.
19) K 7, k 2 tog, *k 6, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (30 sts).
20) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.
Work 4 rows even in stockinette stitch.
25) K 6, k 2 tog, *k 5, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (26 sts).
26) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.
Work 4 rows even in stockinette stitch.
31) K 5, k 2 tog, *k 4, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (22 sts).
32) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.
Work 4 rows even in stockinette stitch.
37) K 4, k 2 tog, *k 3, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (18 sts).
38) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.
Work 4 rows even in stockinette stitch.
43) K 3, k 2 tog, *k 2, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (14 sts).
44) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.
Work 4 rows even in stockinette stitch.
49) K 2, k 2 tog, *k 1, k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (10 sts).
50) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.
Work 4 rows even in stockinette stitch.
55) K 1, *k 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to last stitch, k 1 (6 sts).
56) K 1, purl to last stitch, k 1.
57) *K 2 tog,* repeat from star to star to end of row.
Cast off all 3 stitches.
Sew back seam of hat to brim. Sew brim seam. Turn hat right side out, and fold up k 2, p 2 brim. Make a small tassel and attach to the point of hat.
