Michael Gets his Coat

Before Mommy could make Michael his new coat, she needed to wind some skeins of yarn. It was her first time using her new yarn ball winder and yarn swift, so I helped her set them up.

They both worked amazingly well, and quickly, too. Mommy and I weren’t the only ones fascinated by the whole process. Callie could not take her eyes off the rotating yarn swift!

In only a short time, we had turned eight skeins of yarn into eight neat balls of yarn. Mommy asked me what colour I thought Michael would like best, and I chose red.

Mommy got right to knitting. Michael loves his red coat. He wore it all over the house, until he got too hot, and then he hid his new coat so none of us girls could try it on.

It wasn’t hard to find, but Mommy said we had to “respect his wishes,” so I left it where it was.

If you want your Mommy or Daddy to make you a coat like Michael’s, Mommy is putting the pattern at the end of our blog post. Before you go looking for it though, Luna wants to show you Auntie E.’s finished rug.

We are going to mail the rug off to Auntie E. this week. In the meantime, we are keeping it hidden from Riley, because while Mommy was finishing it up, every time she went to rethread her needle, Riley hid the rug under one of our beds!

Here is the pattern for Michael’s coat:

    • So glad you like the coat, Auntie F.. We looked up the Kiki and found out we have some Kikis at our house, too. How funny! Mommy is going to make a hat to go with all our coats next, and then will make us each a coat of our own for the winter. We can’t wait!

    • Thank you, Auntie E.. I really like my new coat, but I had to hide it because you know the girls here – they think everything is for sharing! We are all happy you like the carpet. It took Mommy a long time to make after breaking her wrist, but “better late than never” is the old saying!

Merci, tante E..

    • We are really happy that you like Michael’s coat, Auntie B.. Doesn’t he look good in red, too?! He loves his bed and quilt, too, and can’t wait for his own room so he can fill it with all his belongings. He says he is going to get a sign for the door that will say his name on it, too.

    • We are so glad you like the coat, Auntie L.. Chloe wants Mommy to make another one for her, so she and Riley can be matching girls this winter.

Our beds are very comfy, but we are still waiting for our own house so we can have our own bedrooms. Right now, we have to share one floor of another cabinet Mommy has…sigh…
