Bored, Bored, Oh So Bored…

We’ve been under a stay-at-home order for weeks now, and today, we just got so, so, so bored from being stuck inside for all this time. Mommy said we should find something to do, but we just couldn’t think of anything…that’s when Mommy said if we were really that bored we had better help her clean the bathroom…

Michael called dibs on the bathtub, but it turned out all he really wanted was to use it as a skateboarding bowl!

Mommy made him stop and set him to putting all the shampoos and stuff away where they belonged. After that, she said he could start cleaning the baseboards and floor.

Vera and I offered to clean the sink, and let Mommy do the toilet. Mommy always covers the drain with a metal net. We wondered why, until we took it off to clean. We sure hope nothing creepy lives down there, and decides to crawl out…

Vera started to clean the mirror, but she got really side tracked.

Mommy switched her job to fluffing the bath towels. They already looked fluffy enough to me.

I didn’t really mind though, because I like cleaning mirrors and making them all shiny and sparkly again.

Our bath room looks great now, but we’re pooped! Michael, Vera and I have decided to never tell Mommy we are bored, ever again!

Last week, Mommy posted the pattern for our crocheted dress in the sc/dc stitch pattern. Here is the jacket to match:

Jacket in Sc/Dc pattern, for Kruselings

Materials: 

1.00 mm (US – 12; UK – 6 1/2) steel crochet hook

DMC Cebelia #30 or Valdani #12 pearl cotton

Small snaps or hook and loop tape

Buttons, if desired.

Tension: 

11 sc per 1”/2.5cm

Stitches and abbreviations used: 

Chain (ch)

Single crochet (sc)

Slip stitch (sl st)

Double crochet (dc)

Increase (inc) – work two sc in next stitch

Decrease (dec) – decrease over the next two stitches by pulling a loop up in each of the next two stitches, and then, pulling thread through all 3 loops on hook

Note:

All sc rows begin with a ch 1 unless otherwise noted.

Jacket:

Beginning at lower edge, chain 56.

1. In second chain from hook, work 1 sc, and then 1dc in same chain, *skip one chain, (sc in next chain, dc in same chain),* repeat from star to star to last chain, 1 sc.
2. In first stitch, work sc, and then dc in same stitch, *skip one stitch, (sc in next stitch, dc in same stitch),* repeat from star to star to last stitch, 1 sc.

Repeat row two, 8 times more.

Divide for fronts and back:

1. (Sc, dc in same stitch, skip 1 stitch) 6 times, sc in next sc, turn.
2. Work in pattern across row, ending with sc in last stitch.
3. (Sc, dc in same stitch, skip 1 stitch) 5 times, 1 sc in next sc and then in last stitch of row.
4. Sc dec over first two stitches, dc in same stitch, work in pattern across row, ending with sc in last stitch.
5. (Sc, dc in same stitch, skip 1 stitch) 4 times, 1 sc in next sc and then in last stitch of row.
6. Sc dec over first two stitches, dc in same stitch, work in pattern across row, ending with sc in last stitch.
7. (Sc, dc in same stitch, skip 1 stitch) 3 times, 1 sc in next sc and then in last stitch of row.
8. Sc dec over first two stitches, dc in same stitch, work in pattern across row, ending with sc in last stitch.
9. (Sc, dc in same stitch, skip 1 stitch) 2 times, 1 sc in next sc and then in last stitch of row.

1. Beginning in next stitch, (sc, dc in same stitch, skip 1 stitch) 6 times, sc in last stitch, turn.
2. Work in pattern across row, ending with sc in last stitch.
3. Sc in first stitch, skip next stitch, work in pattern to end of row, sc in last stitch. 
4. Work in pattern across row, ending with sc dec over last 2 sc of row.
5. Sc in first stitch, skip next stitch, work in pattern to end of row, sc in last stitch. 
6. Work in pattern across row, ending with sc dec over last 2 sc of row.
7. Sc in first stitch, skip next stitch, work in pattern to end of row, sc in last stitch. 
8. Work in pattern across row, ending with sc dec over last 2 sc of row.
9. Sc in first stitch, skip next stitch, work in pattern to end of row, sc in last stitch.

Back:

Right side facing, return the 30 centre stitches.

1. Skip two stitches( for underarm), beginning in next stitch, (sc, dc in same stitch, skip 1 stitch) 13 times, sc in next sc, turn, leaving 2 stitches unworked (for underarm).
2. Sc in first stitch, skip one stitch, (sc, dc in same stitch, skip 1 stitch) to last 4 stitches, sc in next sc, sc in last stitch.
3. Sc dec over first 2 sc, work in pattern to last 2 sc, sc dec over last 2 stitches.

Repeat rows two and three, until 13 stitches remain.

Work 5 rows even in pattern.

Right side facing, begin right back shoulder:

1. Sc in first stitch, dc in same stitch, sc in each of the next 2 sc, turn.
2. Sc dec over first 2 sc, in next sc, work (sc, dc in same stitch), sc in last stitch.
3. Work one row even in pattern.  End off.

Right side facing, begin left back shoulder:

1. Skip 4 stitches, sc in next sc, skip one stitch, work (sc, dc in same stitch) in next stitch, sc in last stitch, turn.
2. Sc in first stitch, dc in same stitch, sc dec over next 2 sc.
3. Work one row even in pattern.  End off.

On wrong side, join shoulder seams.

Sleeves (make two alike):

Beginning at lower edge, chain 26.

1. In second chain from hook, work 1 sc, and then 1dc in same chain, *skip one chain, (sc in next chain, dc in same chain),* repeat from star to star to last chain, 1 sc.
2. In first stitch, work sc, and then dc in same stitch, *skip one stitch, (sc in next stitch, dc in same stitch),* repeat from star to star to last stitch, 1 sc.
3. To 4) Repeat row 2.

5) Work in pattern to the last two stitches of row, in next stitch, work (sc, dc in same stitch) – increase made – sc in last stitch.

6) to 9) Work 4 rows even in pattern.

10) As row 5.

11) to 15) Work 5 rows even in pattern.

16) Slip stitch over the first 2 stitches of row, beginning in next stitch, work in pattern to last 4 stitches of row, skip 1 stitch, sc in next stitch, turn.

17) Sc in first stitch, skip 1 stitch, work in pattern to last 4 stitches, skip 1 stitch, sc in next stitch and then in last stitch of row.

18) Sc dec over first 2 sc of row, work in pattern to last 2 sc, sc dec.

Repeat rows 17 and 18, until 9 stitches remain.  End off.

Sew sleeve seams and inset into jacket armholes, sewing together on wrong side.

Jacket edging: 

Right side facing, join yarn at hemline at centre back of jacket. 

Work 2 rows of sc around entire edges of jacket, working 3 sc in each corner stitch and ending with a slip stitch, to join each row.  

Lace row: Sc in first stitch, ch 3, dc in same stitch, *skip 2 stitches, in next stitch, work (sc, ch 3, dc in same stitch),* repeat from star to star around entire jacket (working an extra lace cluster in each corner), ending with a slip stitch to join row.  End off.

Sleeve edgings:

Right side facing, join yarn at hemline at sleeve seam.

Work 23 sc around hem of sleeve, join with a slip stitch.

Lace row: Sc in first stitch, ch 3, dc in same stitch, *skip 2 stitches, in next stitch, work (sc, ch 3, dc in same stitch),* repeat from star to star around sleeve, joining with a slip stitch to join row.  End off.

Darn in all loose threads.  Close jacket with snaps or hook and loop tape.  Place buttons if desired.
